The  Academy of Applied Technical Studies Belgrade (AATSB) was established by the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia – No. 05, number 022-8045/2019 – dated August 29, 2019. It was formed through the statutory merger of four vocational higher education institutions with a rich tradition:

  • College of applied studies – Belgrade Polytechnic from Belgrade,
  • Technical College of Applied Studies from Belgrade,
  • College of Engineering Applied Studies – Tehnikum Taurunum from Belgrade,
  • Technical College of Applied Studies from Požarevac.

Today the Academy consists of four sections:

  • Belgrade Polytechnic Section,
  • Computer-Mechanical Engineering Section,
  • Section of Traffic, Mechanical Engineering and Safety Engineering,
  • Applied Engineering Sciences Section.

The Academy Day Celebration is November 29.

The Academy organizes and conducts study programs that equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for immediate integration into the working process:

  • First-degree studies – bachelor studies (three years, 180 ECTS) and specialist vocational studies (one year, 60 ECTS)
  • Second-degree studies – master’s vocational studies (two years, 120 ECTS)

The Academy is a member of the CONFERENCE OF ACADEMIES AND HIGH SCHOOLS OF SERBIA.

OBJECTIVES AND GOALS

  • Development and Establishment of Study Programs: We take responsibility for the quality of education through the continuous development and establishment of diverse study programs.
  • Freedom to Choose Teaching Methods: By providing the freedom to choose methods of interpreting educational content, our faculty takes responsibility for enhancing students’ understanding, knowledge acquisition, and competence.
  • Increased Time in Interactive Work with Students: We implement the concept of „student-centered learning,“ dedicating more time to interactive work with students to enhance their educational experience.
  • Student Obligations: Students are required to fulfill educational and pre-exam obligations to maximize the benefits of their educational journey.
  • Continuous Improvement of Study Effectiveness and Efficiency: We strive for the constant improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency of the studying process.
  • Respectful and Courteous Interaction with Students: Upholding a culture of correct and respectful interaction in our relationships with students is a priority.
  • Support for Student Participation in Enhancing Teaching Quality: We actively support student involvement in elevating the quality of the teaching process.
  • Collaboration with Employers, Business, and Public Sectors: By fostering collaboration with employers and sectors, we aim to enhance the relevance of our study programs at the national level.
  • Aspiration Towards Applicable Knowledge and Skills: Our focus is on providing knowledge and skills that are applicable in real-world scenarios.
  • Internationalization of the Academy, Student Mobility, Faculty, and Staff Participation in International Projects: We aspire to internationalize the Academy through promoting mobility among students, faculty, and staff, and actively participating in international projects.
  • Teaching as a Priority Activity: Teaching is recognized as a priority activity, and our goal is to ensure high-quality education through engagement and innovation in teaching methodologies.

VISION

The Academy of Applied Technical Studies Belgrade – a leading vocational higher education institution in the Republic of Serbia, founded on principles ensuring quality, recognized and positioned in the national and international educational space, as well as in the professional environment. In this institution, students acquire internationally recognized and competitive competencies in accordance with the current and long-term needs of society and the development of the Republic of Serbia.

MISSION

Through accredited undergraduate, specialist, and master vocational study programs, short study programs, various forms of lifelong learning, as well as professional, research, and artistic work in specific areas of technical-technological, artistic, socio-humanistic, and medical fields, the  Academy of Applied Technical Studies Belgrade  provides students with contemporary knowledge, skills, and competencies. These enable them to find their place in the job market, contribute to societal development, and be competitive in professional environments, both domestically and internationally.

Building on a longstanding tradition in higher vocational education and collaborating with domestic and international educational institutions, as well as business and other entities, the Academy continually enhances the educational process. It aligns the competencies of its graduates with the needs and expectations of employers, the broader social community, and the strategic development trends of the Republic of Serbia.

By developing international visibility and attractiveness through strategic and other projects, student, academic, and non-academic mobilities, the Academy consistently improves the knowledge, skills, and competencies of its students and staff. Through participation in the implementation of professional, scientific-research, artistic, commercial, and non-commercial projects, the Academy motivates students and staff to apply and develop acquired knowledge and skills in practice, contributing to the achievement of the Academy’s goals and their personal aspirations.

The socially responsible behavior of staff and students, along with adherence to the code of professional ethics and academic integrity, form the foundation of the Academy’s actions, reputation, and prosperity.
